Will You Be Getting a Flu Shot This Year?

August 25, 2011

Time to make an appointment — because we’re in the flu shot business again this year!

Beginning Sept. 6, influenza vaccines will be available for $23 at the following PPIN health centers:

Avon, Bloomington, Columbus, Evansville, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis-Castleton, Indianapolis-Eastside, Indianapolis-Midtown, Indianapolis-Southside, Hammond, Lafayette, Madison, Merrillville, Mishawaka, Muncie, Richmond, Terre Haute, Valparaiso and Warsaw.
Why should you consider getting a flu shot?  Well, for starters, the Centers for Disease Control recommends annual flu vaccinations for everyone age six months or older.  Add that to the fact that the flu is highly contagious and that outbreaks can happen as early as October, and we think there’s a very strong argument that you should take advantage of this affordable, preventive care opportunity at 19 of our centers.
Patients do have to be 12 or older to get a shot at one of our centers, and appointments must be made in advance.  Click here to see a full listing of health centers across the state, and find the phone number and address for the facilities that are offering the shots.  You may also call 1-800-230-PLAN to reach the health center nearest you.

Now that you know it’s time to be thinking about the upcoming flu season – will you be getting vaccinated?  Let us know through this fancy-schmancy new poll!
